CONTENT DEVELOPMENT AND DIRECTION

THE CHALLENGE:

DBS Foundation aimed to spotlight the inspiring work they’re doing across the region—but they were clear: the content shouldn’t look or feel like another corporate video. They wanted a fresh, fun series that could play on both YouTube and TikTok, targeting youth and the business community alike. On top of that, the stories, while often heartfelt, needed to feel light, insightful, and relatable instead of overly sentimental.

THE APPROACH:

To break away from the usual, we developed a content series that’s candid, lively, and full of personality. We used a voiceover-driven style—conversational and personable—paired with creative filming and editing techniques. This gave each episode a distinctive energy that is different than the usual heartfelt docu series.

MY ROLE:

As both writer and director, I worked closely with DBS throughout the process. We pre-interviewed each profile to draw out the most compelling—and entertaining—aspects of their stories. Working hand-in-hand with my art director, we crafted scripts and storyboards tailored for each film. Despite the logistical and remote challenges (many profiles were based abroad), we found ways to get the most out of every interview. Travelling to their countries and teaming up with local fixers, we brought these stories to life with heart and humour.
